I love Atlus

Man, Atlus is the company to beat this year! In the last two months, they've announced Tokyo Beat Down, Steal Princess, SMT Devil Summoner 2, (it's not really two but w/e) Super Robot Taisen OG Saga, and SMT Devil Survivor, all games I want to play. Out of all of them, SRTOGS is the one I want to play the most. It looks pretty fresh and original. I've never heard of the series, but I guess I can hope on the bandwagon now huh?

I haven't talked about wrestling in a while, have I? Well, how about Rated RKO?!? Edge wins his 7th World Championship and Randy Orton wins the Rumble! Are you kidding me? I marked out so hard when Orton won man. I just hope that he beats Cena at WM. Speaking of Cena, is it pretty guaranteed that he'll win his EC match? I mean, Kofi Kingston and Mike Knox? WTF? I can't see Mysterio winning, and Kane and Jericho are both heel so I can only see Cena walking out as champ. The SD EC is by far one of the most best booked matches in history. They have all the power player in the match and it better close the show. The match could go either way. Edge or Triple H could win, and then fight each other at WM, then they get Kozlov VS Undertaker out of the chamber, since he hasn't been beaten one-on-one and Undertaker's undefeated at Mania. Jeff Hardy is obviously going to face Matt at Mania, so I don't know why they didn't just put Matt in. Big Show isn't going to have some big match at Mania this year, so it's pointless to have him in there. Getting to a different subject, I'm really looking forward to Orton VS Shane. Shane is crazy and I'm expecting a big spot in the match-up.

So my Wrestlemania 25 card goes as follows:
Randy Orton VS John Cena - World Title Match - I figure Austin will have some type of part in this match, but I'm predicting that Austin will probably screw Cena, since the fans wouldn't expect that. Austin's gotta have a role, since he's being inducted into the HOF that night before.

Edge VS Triple H - WWE Title Match - This is the only match I see out of the chamber, unless Triple H wins and faces Taker, then Christian comes back and teams with Jeff to face Edge and Matt Hardy, but that's only a dream.

Undertaker VS Vladmir Kozlov - Undefeated at WM VS Undefeated in the WWE. Makes sense.

Jeff VS Matt - No Hold Barred - For obvious reason.

MITB Ladder Match - Ever since WM 21, a MITB is a necessary requirement for the event.

Well, that's my card right now. Jericho might play a part and fight Flair but we'll have to see.

  1. Are you kidding me? They've put out announced 10 games that are coming out this year. I haven't seen Square-Enix or Namco Bandai even come close to this. SE hasn't even set a freakin release date for FFXIII, which was announced almost 2 years ago. Atlus has had 3 back-to-back-to-back hits on PS2 with Persona 3, Persona 3: FES, and Persona 4. Square released all remakes last year and a couple horrible next gen RPGs such as The Last Remnant and the god awful Infinite Undiscovery. Star Ocean: The Last Hope is really their Last Hope. If this isn't the best RPG on the system, then I don't think they can last much longer and the JRPG will be dead in the next coming years.

  3. Maybe they are making a whole bunch of new games but..all of atlus's games are just mediocre. I've never seen atlus with any games considered great. However square enix may take longer to get games out there but I guaruntee there games are going to be better than any atlus game. So its really just quality over quantity.

  4. Yes, I do agree with the fact that Square Enix does take a long time releasing their games. Final Fantasy XII was announced in what, 2003? And it was released in 2006 right? Okay, so then they had 3 long years to make the game perfect because they knew it would be the last Final Fantasy game on PS2 right? Well, why was it met with mixed reviews? You figure with 3 long years, they would've made the game where no one had any complaints, but we were wrong. The same thing happened with The Last Remnant. It was announced the same year FFXII was released, so that gave them 2 years to work on the game correct? Well then, what the hell happened? When the game was finally released, it was buggy and slow with bad gameplay. Now, let's get to Atlus. I'm not going to lie, not everyone of their games is a knock out. Some are met with harsh words, but many are given praise. Atlus brought a series over to the US called Shin Megami Tensei and under that name released Nocturne, (viewed as the best RPG of 2004) Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2, (in the same year) Devil Summoner, (probably the worst game in the series, but it's equal with FF 9 or 12) and of course Persona 3, Persona 3: FES, (it was so popular they released an expansion over here) and Persona 4. Every one of those games excluding Devil Summoner were met with critical acclaim. Atlus proved that if you have a good thing going, don't change it. Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 have the same gameplay, but both are amazing games. Persona 3 and Persona 4 don't have many gameplay differences, but they are both amazing titles. Every time I look at a Square Enix game, they're trying to do something different in the gameplay department. You know why I like all the Shin Megami games? It's because all the stories are different! In Nocturne, the freakin world was taken over and you had to go out and shape it the way you wanted it to be and it didn't have to be for good either.

Let's look at the big games Square Enix released versus what Atlus released. SE had Infinite Undiscovery and The Last Remnant
Atlus' two heavy hitters were Persona 3: FES and Persona 4. FES wasn't really a remake though. It tweaked the main story a little but it added 30 more hours of gameplay for 30 dollars.
Both of Atlus' console games crushed SE's games. Infinite Undiscovery was highly hyped and with good reason. Tri-Ace helped make Radiata Stories, one of my favorite SE RPGs. In the end, it sucked. BAD. I'll give SE one thing, they release the best handheld games. Final Fantasy IV, The World Ends With You, Crisis Core, Dragon Quest IV, and Chrono Trigger are all amazing games, but what about the consoles? Now, just because I'm critiquing SE doesn't mean I hate them. I just feel that Atlus does more for they're fan base. Why hasn't SE released the Kingdom Hearts Final Mix versions of their games over here? They would sell, everyone knows that, so why not release them? Who knows.
Overall, SE is a better company, but I just like Atlus more. They've put out more games that captured my attention than SE has in the last couple of years. I hope I've hit all my points in this. Oh wait I forgot something. You really need to play some of Atlus' RPGs. They're much harder than any FF game and they have a lot to do.
