The WWE Draft took place last night and it looks to be a promising future for WWE.
First, let's look at the Raw picks:
In the first pick of the night, Raw get the United States Champion MVP in a huge acquisition for Raw. I'm really looking forward to him being a major player on Raw. Hopefully when he drops his US title, he'll start feuding with people like Orton and Cena. A big surprise IMO.
The second Raw pick was Big Show. I don't really see where they were going with this one. Maybe he'll feud with Batista or something. A so-so pick for me.
The third Raw pick was Matt Hardy. This guy has some good potential as a heel and now that he's on Raw, he can definitely rise up to challenge some main eventers. I can see him being World Heavyweight or WWE champion by the end of the year. Mark my words. Another great draft pick for Raw.
Raw's fourth pick was The Game, Triple H, which I happened to predict. With Triple H back on Raw, you can expect him to face Orton some more, Batista, and of course, John Cena. Now that both champions are on Raw, I predicting that what happened at Vengeance 2001 will happen again. I think both Cena and unfortunately Triple H will retain their titles and then at Judgment Day, have Cena VS Batista and have Orton VS Triple H or some kind of pairing. Then, the winner of those two matches meet in the main event for the Undisputed Title. Smackdown would finally get the Smackdown championship, which would be won by Edge, or one of the draftees. Raw hit the jackpot with The Game!
The 5th pick for Raw was the Miz. They just broke up their only hope at reviving the tag team division. Miz and Morrison had a bright future, but now, I can only see Morrison rising up on ECW by himself and Miz getting fired in a couple of months. Until then, I hope he's the one to take MVP's US Title. Another so-so pick.
Raw's final pick was Maryse, which wasn't anything special. I hate the fact that Smackdown now has both tag titles, the IC Title, and the Women's Title, as they all have rich history and belong on Raw. Now, with the Maryse on Raw, it should open up more women's matches, like Maryse VS Mickie, Kelly, and so on.
Overall, Raw recovered from the last draft. Last year, they lost Jeff Hardy, Triple H, and some others but they rebounded this year with picks like Triple H, MVP, and Matt Hardy. Raw looks to have a great year. A+ for them!
Now onto Smackdown!
Smackdown's first pick was Melina, who brings the Women's Championship to SD. I'm not a fan of that decision, but now she can face McCool and the other chick Natalya.
SD's second pick was Mr. Money in the Bank, CM Punk. They now have the hottest young star in the WWE and Raw has taken a huge lost. CM Punk will be a main eventer on SD, and I hope he faces Edge, Jeff Hardy, and Undertaker on SD. One of the best picks.
The third draftee was Kane. I don't see what he can do on SD, but I would like to see a Brothers of Destruction reunion, with them becoming the tag champs. That would make my day.
SD gets their biggest pick as Chris Jericho is drafted as their 4th pick. Wow, didn't see that coming at all. Jericho will thrive on SD, probably becoming their new World Champion soon. If not him, CM Punk, Edge, or Hardy. Jericho on SD means that he could eventually be the one to face Taker at Mania next year, which would be interesting to see. An awesome pick for them.
SD's fifth and last pick was the IC Champion Rey Mysterio. SD really needs him now and with all the other young talent on SD, it should make for some epic clashes on Friday nights.
Overall, Smackdown had another great year. They only gave up one of their best, (that being Triple H) but gained some greats as well. Jericho, CM Punk, and Mysterio will do wonders for SD and I wouldn't be surprised if that's a Triple Threat match for a title pretty soon! A for them.
The only pick ECW got was Vladmir Kozlov. It's wasn't a bad pick, it's just that he's going at the wrong time. This must mean that Swagger will be losing his title to one of the three in the championship chase thing so that Kozlov can feud with them. ECW will get their's in the supplemental draft. Speaking of Swagger, he really did a good job against Cena last night. I hope he drops his ECW Title and comes over to Raw, where he belongs. He would do well under Orton's wing. They need a 4th member anyway.
I hope Christian gets drafted in the supplemental draft. He's a great wrestler and his potential exceeds ECW. Another big pick is Evan Bourne. He'll probably go to Smackdown to feud with people like Mysterio and CM Punk. Oh my God, I would love to see that match! ECW will probably get Benjamin, Kofi Kingston, and Dolph Ziggler. Maybe even The Brian Kendrick and Hurricane Helms. The future is looking bright for WWE. I'm predicting right now, that before or at SummerSlam, there will be a Fatal Four Way for the World/WWE/Undisputed Title. Triple H, Batista, Randy Orton, and John Cena, or just take out Triple H and have a Triple Threat. I've wanted to see that Triple Threat matches since they all won World Titles, so I think that would be an interesting clash.
