Wrestlemania didn't go so well for the 2011 Royal Rumble winner Alberto Del Rio. First of all, he was the opening match and the other thing, he didn't win. Not a good first impression. It's alright though, because in three weeks, Del Rio has another opportunity to win the title when he goes against the Rated R Superstar in a Ladder Match. The match type favors the champion, but Del Rio had a good performance back at TLC in December. So, does Del Rio win the title at Extreme Rules on May 1st? Most likely. The only reason Del Rio didn't win at Wrestlemania is because Miz won and they didn't want to have two new heel guys both win titles at their biggest event. If they were faces, they would be a different story ala Cena and Batista. Look, let's face it; Del Rio is here to stay. I know he lost at Wrestlemania, but the guy is main event worthy. He's got the look, the talent, and some mic skills. What else could you want from a World Champion? Del Rio WILL become World Champion sometime this year, I just don't know when. Extreme Rules is most likely, since Miz will probably be ending his 6 month reign as champion. And don't forget about Christian in this whole equation. What role will he play at Extreme Rules? Will we see Edge at the top of the ladder about to reach his title, only to have his friend Christian push him off? Or will Christian help Edge win THEN turn on him, or is this Christian heel turn just a big WWE tease? Probably the latter right? Well whatever, I'm going with Del Rio for every World Title match he is in this year. This guy HAS to win this title or like I said in my Mania predictions, WWE is just wasting our time with this guy, especially since you already have a great young heel in Wade Barrett who main evented 5 out of 6 PPVs last year. I mean, come on.
Who will be Miz's next opponent? With Edge/Del Rio already set, will we get a Miz/Cena rematch? I would rather they do a Fatal Four Elimination match and add Punk and Orton to the mix. With no Fatal Four Way PPV, I think they would work out the best. That way, if it came down to Miz/Cena, oh well, at least it wasn't a straight up rematch. Even though I'm loving the Miz's reign, I would love to see Punk finally win the WWE Title. Just don't let Orton or Cena win the title right now. I've had enough of those two at the moment. Forget the Fatal Four Way idea, what about Stone Cold Steve Austin? Tough Enough is back and what better way to promote it then to have the host get a WWE Title shot? He said in a recent interview that he could wrestle again, so why doesn't he give it a shot? They already started to tease it and it would be awesome to see the Rattlesnake have another match. Miz/Stone Cold would be a great match at the Extreme Rules PPV. I bet Stone Cold would win, but hey, the guy's a legend. Well, who knows? It's still, what, three weeks away so anything can happen.
