RematchMania!

So, The Royal Rumble has come and gone and with it the end of CM Punk's reign. I won't go too much into because I feel it's a bad decision, but at least the children will be happy when John Cena wins his 11th WWE Championship from The Rock at Wrestlemania 29. So predictable WWE. It was a huge surprise seeing Chris Jericho again so soon. I hope he has a nice Wrestlemania match and hopefully another good match with Ziggler at Elimination Chamber.

So, can we get a Cena/Sheamus/Ryback VS Shield main event at Elimination Chamber? Those guys got laid the hell out on Raw this past week. In one of the old WWE games, they let you do a 6 Man Tag Elimination inside the Chamber so why not do that for the PPV, seeing how Cena already has his WM plans set. It would be a nice match-up but predictable since Cena has to win here so he looks strong going into Mania. It should still happen though.

So, Lesnar returns a day late and attacks Vince. Well, Triple H/Lesnar II is all but confirmed. This is going to be the Wrestlemania of rematches I guess. Four of the big stars are already taken so that just leaves Orton, Sheamus, Punk, and Taker to do something at the event. A Punk/Taker match to be is pointless now. Punk has nothing to fight for, just respect but it's not enough for me to buy into him defeating Undertaker. If Sheamus/Orton wrestle, that's a rematch as well! Why isn't WWE reaching out to guys who don't wrestle that often (HBK and Austin) to have matches at the big event? Are they waiting for 30? I just think people would pay big money to see Austin and HBK in a WWE ring again. Not to mention it would help push some of the younger guys. A Ziggler/HBK match would show that he's really arrived in WWE while a Punk/Austin match would be another clash of two superstars from different eras. Maybe they just don't want to wrestle again being in their old age and all. Oh well.

So far, I've never been this disappointed heading into the February PPV. Even when Cena won in 2008, I still had hope for a Taker/Edge main event and it happened. This year, I have nothing really to look forward to. Yes, Rock/Cena II should be another good match, but it's already happened! It was once in a lifetime right? Well, let it stay like that then! I would much rather see a Triple Threat with Punk included than another single match between the two.

WWE has to start taking some chances on their biggest event of the year. Guys like Ziggler, Miz, Barrett, and Cesaro SHOULD be featured in main matches, but WWE just seems so scared to try anything different than Cena, Orton, or a past name. If this continues, there will be no next big time star because WWE won't survive. After Wrestlemania 30, I think it's time to fully give over to the next generation. It's time Cena takes a backseat while Miz/Ziggler is the next big feud or Barrett/Sheamus. I'm just sick of the same old WWE is all.

Oh, the rumored Jericho/Ryback match would be great for Ryback's career and Jericho will probably job to him because it's the right thing to do! Push the youth! Take chances!

Wrestlemania XXIX is looking to be good revenue wise, but not creative wise. Rematches from two of the big events last year is not fair to any fan of WWE. We want fresh entertainment. Hell, I'd take a Cena/Lesnar/Rock/HHH match just because that would be different.

Maybe I'm overreacting but I'm just tired of this crap. There are plenty of talented guys that could work with this talent. They could do four different matches with those four names and it would help WWE immensely. Do Lesnar/Sheamus, HHH/Cesaro, Cena/Ryback, and Rock/Ziggler. THAT'S different. It may not sell that high in the end, but I would be interested in every match, but at the end of the day, it's all about the draw and Rock/Cena II and Lesnar/HHH II will draw high numbers on the same card. Add Punk/Taker and Orton/Sheamus and this Mania will sell big, but it won't convince me that WWE has taken that next step in trusting the youth and in the end, that's what I care most about. We'll see what guys like Ziggler, Del Rio, Cesaro, Barrett, Miz and The Shield do come Wrestlemania time. Will they take a backseat to the Legends or be featured in some interesting matches? Time will tell I guess.

Overall, I'm disappointed in the rematches but I can't blame WWE for doing them. It's all about money and they will definitely make money with those two matches alone. It's a shame that three of those four guys will slip into the background on April 8th while the young guns who weren't featured on the WM card will step up for the next 11 months only to be screwed again at the next Mania. It's a vicious circle that won't be stopped until the legends die off. I'm sorry to be negative like that, but it's the truth.

RIP CM Punk's title reign. It was the best thing going and it really made the year and a half journey to my wedding that much better.
