WWE's worst fear, well, 2nd worst fear has come true. Daniel Bryan is injured. And it's a risky injury too, one that doesn't have a set time he'll be back. And it's really bad too that he's the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He just achieved his dream and now, if it's bad enough, it's going to be ripped right away from him. I don't think they should though. I have some scenarios in mind though.
The first is my dream come true; SPLIT THE TITLES UP. Let Bryan hold onto one of the titles and let Cena/Wyatt battle over the other one at Payback. SIMPLE. Both titles shouldn't be together when there are so many other guys who deserve to get a trial run with one belt before moving on to the bigger one. I've said it before, I'll say it again, the World Title was a fantastic launching pad for Orton, Punk and Bryan. It could be the same for Wyatt, Cesaro, Reigns and any other young guy winning his first World Title. Anyway, this way, you could keep the belt on Bryan and just have him do what Punk did when he was injured.
The other scenario has Bryan hold onto both and WWE build a huge tournament to declare a challenger for Bryan at SummerSlam. Maybe, a King of the Ring style tournament? Anyway, after Payback, you get 16 guys, including The Shield, Orton, Wyatt and some others and put them in the tournament. Have the two semi final matches be at WWE Money in the Bank. The matches could be something like, Wyatt VS Cena/Sheamus and Reigns VS Kane. That way, the other youth superstars (Cesaro, Rhodes, Barrett, Big E) can be in the MITB match. Have Reigns and Wyatt win and build to their match at Battleground to determine the #1 contender at SummerSlam. You let HHH screw Reigns out the match and then you have two mega main events for the big summer event. Now, as amazing as that sounds, I'm sure WWE will go some route that will be lame and uninteresting.
What should WWE do? It's a really delicate situation they have. While Bryan deserves to keep the championship, having the champion not wrestle at 3 PPVs if he won't be back until SummerSlam is not best for business, unless the the focus of each PPV is the championship without it being defended, i.e. the tournament. Monday is decision day!
