Rejoice wrestling fans! WWE is putting on two different big live event this week, one showcasing the future of the company and the other showcasing the gimmick match palooza that is TLC. It's certainly going to be a treat. Let's start with NXT first.
NXT R Evolution is the 4th and probably final event of the year and will be shown on the WWE Network. NXT has put on 3 previously solid events so it's obvious my expectations are very high for this one. I'm WAY more excited about this than TLC, mainly because I have investment in more matches here than TLC. I'm pulling for people to win more on this card than TLC's basically. Let's breakdown the matches.
The opener should be the NXT Tag Title match, which will pit The Lucha Dragons VS The Vaudevillains. NXT's tag division is promising, with teams like The Ascension, who will most definitely be getting a call up after R Evolution, Balor and Itami, Murphy and Blake, Jordan and DIllenger, etc. NXT clearly has no shortage of teams but just like WWE's main roster, it's just not the most exciting division. That being said, I'm sure it will be a good match. They had a good match for the #1 contendership back in August so this should be more of the same. I don't really know what heel teams would really feud with the Dragons after this match. I don't think the NXT Universe would like a Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake/Lucha Dragons feud, even if they put on great matches. I also don't see a quick title change right after them getting the titles from The Ascension. This is definitely a tough one to call. If Balor and Itami stay together as a team, whoever wins this will drop to them. I don't think the titles will keep flopping from team to team so I'm going with The Lucha Dragons to win. I'd love to see The Vaudevillains pick up the win though...
Kevin Steen, now given the NXT name of Kevin Owens, will make his debut on the show. It's not known in what proportion. Will it be a opening promo like Kenta or will be fight someone? Regardless, I can't wait to see how they do it. Owens is apart of the NXT 5, who we're all hoping will make it to the big times and produce change throughout the WWE. The way he's handled is very important. I would like to see him placed straight into the main event as his long time friend and rival is more than likely going to capture the top title of the brand shortly. We'll just have to see.
The Ascension will face Hideo Itami and Finn Balor in what will probably be their last NXT Live Special match. The Ascension really have nothing left to prove in NXT. They've already held the tag titles for close to a year and even if they won them back, it's kind of pointless to be honest. They need to head onto bigger and better things, like the WWE Tag Team Titles. The Ascension VS The Usos should be penciled into Wrestlemania 31 or for a spring time feud. It should be a good match that showcases the future that lies in Itami and Balor. They will obviously walk out victorious over the most dominant NXT tag team in history.
NXT doesn't have a midcard championship, which is a good and a bad thing. It's a bad thing because there's only one title the single guys are chasing and not enough guys are getting the proper shot, like, how are Zayn/Neville/Owens/Itami/Balor ALL feud for the belt and leave guys like Corbin and Dempsey out? I think they need a lower title. For now, though, it's a good thing because it puts a lot of focus on the other singles championship, which is the NXT Women's Championship. The NXT Women's matches have been the most consistent matches of the live events and you can argue that Charlotte VS Natalya is one of the top matches of the year. For this match, we get the champion Charlotte defending against her former friend Sasha Banks. This will be another great women's match for NXT. It's a first time meeting between the two (at least for me) and there's some definite tension between the two. It's clear to me that Charlotte only beat Bayley to lose to Sasha. And why not? Charlotte has carried the Women's division in NXT far enough. She made her debut on Raw this past week and I know it was just to promote R Evolution but you would think you would promote that with a win at least. She lost by a freaking roll-up! This just shows me that they are getting ready for a title change come Thursday. Sasha Banks will defeat Charlotte for her 1st NXT Women's Championship, definitely not without interference from Becky Lynch and Bayley. Charlotte will then will be fazed out of NXT to the green pastures of WWE, but probably closer to Mania season. Hopefully.
The main event of the show will most likely be a match of the year candidate. Adrian Neville will put his 10 month title reign on line against Sami Zayn, who said that if he cannot dethrone Neville, he will leave NXT. Well, that pretty much just gives away the match huh? Still, it will be an adrenaline ride to the finish. I'm expecting a false finish with Neville hitting the Red Arrow on Zayn, only to have him kick out at 2 and vice versa with the Hellvua Kick on Neville. It will easily be the best match NXT has put on all year. After about 20 minutes, Zayn will finish off Neville and will finally be crowned NXT Champion.
NXT R Evolution is going to be amazing and I seriously can't wait to see what will happen at the big event. This event will be the start of NXT's amazing 2015.
TLC will air Sunday and after Thursday's amazing NXT event. It will be the 3rd PPV in a row without a WWE World Title match. 9 matches are on the card. I'm not going to waste too much time here.
A New Day win.
Ryback wins.
Miz and Mizdow win.
Nikki Bella wins.
Rusev wins.
Erick Rowan wins.
Luke Harper wins.
NOW, for the main events. The match that made this PPV for me, Bray Wyatt VS Dean Ambrose in a TLC match. This is going to be insane! Two of the craziest superstars in WWE history will collide with all goodies legal. This really should be the show ender but we all know Cena/Rollins will get top billing. Anyway, this is going to be an absolute war. I expect plenty of crazy spots from both guys. Wyatt technically won the first meeting and Ambrose hasn't won a PPV match in awhile, since Payback. I don't think this feud will be over, even after this crazy match. Ambrose will get the hard earned victory but I expect these guys to have a rubber match on the first Raw of the year.
Rollins will main event a PPV for the 3rd straight time! It's good being the top heel in the company huh? Anyway, Rollins faces Superman Cena in a Tables match. Rollins/Cena is a future title feud that will stretch many PPVs and the two will have fantastic matches I'm sure. Just look at Bryan and Punk. This match? Not really looking forward to it but that's mainly due to the gimmick of the Table match. It's just set the table up, try to put your opponent through it, rinse and repeat. It's not my favorite match type. Cena's opportunity at Brock Lesnar is on the line here. While I would love to see Cena lose and have, say, Orton VS Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, I know WWE are just set in pushing the rematch of Lesnar/Cena. And maybe we'll get a Randy Orton appearance? Cena wins and retains his #1 contendership, despite WWE having plenty of other stars who could face Lesnar.
So, TLC is lacking. I'm not saying it can't be good, I'm just not looking that forward to it like I was Survivor Series or NXT R Evolution. Harper/Ziggler, Wyatt/Ambrose and if the Divas can actually get some time, should be good matches. The rest is just filler until next month's Royal Rumble. Speaking of that, it's almost time for Wrestlemania 31, which means it's time to speculate who will be facing who on the big event. Here's what I see.
Roman Reigns VS Brock Lesnar - The given main event that will crown a new face of WWE.
Sting VS Triple H - The match that was set up at Survivor Series. Not completely sold on the match and it could be down right awful.
Bray Wyatt VS Undertaker - A bit of a stretch but the match of the two supernatural beings of WWE. Taker can past the torch to make Wyatt look good or Wyatt can continue his streak of feuding with the top stars.
Randy Orton VS Seth Rollins - The match of the night if done. This has been brewing since Orton was taken out by Rollins and will happen, just not sure if they'll make it to Mania.
John Cena VS Rusev - Come on, he's the only guy left Rusev hasn't beaten.
Don't know what Ambrose will do. He's one of the top stars in the company so I know he won't be left off the card.
Ok, that's it! Be sure to check out NXT on Thursday! TLC, eh.
