Dark Souls III - Journal #2

Alright, so here's the next entry!

I haven't played Dark Souls III in about a week and that was mainly due to my work schedule. Working all overnights meant that I had to sleep during the day and couldn't play any real games. I was able to get some time in my Steam games but just barely. Anyway, since I hadn't played for long, I went back to the first bonfire found in the Undead Settlement to explore more and see if I missed anything. I found an alternate route that led to another bonfire. From there, I went up and found a guy in a cage who turned out to be a pyromancy teacher. YES! He's freed and now back at Firelink Shrine. I continue on my quest and eventually,, I find that big building, which I just assumed was the church but it was a lift and I met another NPC who was trying to figure out the lift situation. This led me down and I found a most vicious beast with fast movements who killed me with three hits. I went back but this time, the lift when up and I found the beast that has been throwing huge spears at me in the Undead Settlement. With him no longer doing that, I went back to collect some of the treasures that were scattered about. Past the spear thrower area is a HUGE open area with a disgusting tree and from a distance, I can see that it's moving. I know the next boss is something called a Greatwood due to me seeing it online so I'm cautious and go back to a bonfire to ready myself. I return and this boss is MASSIVE and there are additional enemies all around. After a couple of times of failure and not knowing what to do, I summoned an NPC to help me. He completely trashed the Curse-rotten Greatwood with little to no help from me. Uh, yay? With no where else to go, I return to the lift, cheat to defeat the monster, and move onto to the Road of Sacrifices.

This area is filled with enemies who carry large branches, mushroom like creatures and crabs! The crabs vary in size and the monster like crabs are absolutely terrifying to how they move. There's two different ways to go here and I first went through a castle like area and that led to another boss, Crystal Sage. I couldn't beat it the first time so like I always do, I try the other way. The other road is blocked by two warriors, one with a greatsword, the other with a giant club. These guys are coming at me so fast that I can't use pyromancy so it's down to my ax and dodge rolling. I was able to beat the greatsword foe first and then the guy with the club. As I continue on, I see a note on the ground that says turn back. This isn't from another player but the game itself. I keep going on and find a bonfire and the next area is called Farron's Keep. I walked in the area for two minutes before turning back. This is my nightmare area. It's, from the looks of it, Old Man's Wharf from Dark Souls 1 and I hated that area with a passion. I still do to this day. I decided to go back and try my luck against the Crystal Sage. After a couple times of learning the patterns and such, I was able to defeat the boss without any summons or helps at all. As I continued on, I eventually got to the Cathedral of the Deep, where they say the first Cinder Lord is. After network problems, which basically threw me out of the game about 10 times yesterday due to an issue with live, I decided to end my 6 hour journey for the day.

THIS IS DARK SOULS. I feel like I barely made any progress but looking back on it, I really did and it's awesome. I beat two bosses, got more pyromancy skills, upped the number of Estus Flask uses and the effectiveness of it and got plenty of armor and weapons. I'm at the 10 hour mark now and it looks like I'll be fighting the first Cinder Lord so I'm pretty excited to see one of the major bosses in the game. I'll keep you updated...
