Pros/Cons of Reigns/Lesnar

Despite fan disapproval, WWE has kept to their original plans and will have Roman Reigns main event his first Wrestlemania ever against Brock Lesnar, who is returning to the main event for the first time in 12 years. Will this be the passing of the torch match WWE wants it to be or will this crash and burn in WWE's face?

Pros

1. It's WWE's main event

I may be in the miniority but I'm so glad WWE kept to what they originally had planned. I'm a huge fan of Daniel Bryan but with how they set the chain of events in motion, he doesn't have a place in this title match. It was definitely a ballsy move and I fully support that they did it.

2. Roman Empire

This is THE match for Reigns. This is the match that's been in the works since his breakout at Survivor Series 2013, where he eliminated all but one person on the opposing team. This is the match where Reigns becomes a superstar, where all eyes will be on him. It will be where everyone will see Reigns defeat Brock Lesnar and bring back the captured WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Reigns will looks like the ultimate hero and take his place as the next big star of WWE. It's something WWE needs to establish. Their golden boy Cena is getting older and won't be around forever, though it may seem that way now. Reigns may not be the guy everyone wants to see succeed but every era has to have a big star and this era is going to get Reigns. Believe that.

3. Rollins lurking

In the back of everyone's mind is this question; when will Seth Rollins cash in his Money in the Bank contract? He's had it since June and is quickly approaching the top of the list of holding the briefcase the longest before cashing in. While it's definitely not guaranteed he'll become champion, the chances of Rollins successfully cashing in MITB is high, simply because he's been pushed as a top heel since the summer. A cash in attempt has NEVER happened at Wrestlemania and MITB turns 10 years old THIS year. Will Rollins be the one to finally cash in the grandest stage of them all? Time will tell. If he does, I'm sure it will be to the delight of the entire crowd.

4. Unique match-up

This will be the 2nd year in a row where one of the superstars is making their Wrestlemania main event debut. Last year it was Bryan and this year, it's Reigns. First time WM main eventers have a good record in winning. Not counting the first event, 13 times has someone main eventing the PPV for the first time, gone on to win the match. These names include Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Yokozuna, (he won the scheduled main event, I guess) Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Stone Cold, Triple H, Brock Lesnar, Chris Benoit, Batista, John Cena, The Miz and Daniel Bryan. Hell, even Lawrence Taylor won in the main event of 11 but I'm not counting that. All won in their first main event at WM. Losing first timers, excluding the first event and one half of 11's main event, are King Kong Bundy, Andre the Giant, Ted DiBiase, Sgt. Slaughter, Sid Justice, Bret Hart, Bam Bam Bigelow, The Rock, Big Show, Mick Foley, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Edge, and Randy Orton. So, it's a dead even 13-13.

Both guys are considered powerhouses. Lesnar will definitely suplex Reigns plenty of times while Reigns will get off his five moves of doom. I'm looking forward to the quality of match the two put on because Lesnar hasn't had many bad matches since returning and the different styles will definitely make for a quality Mania match.

Cons

1. The Fans

WWE's ballsy display of putting Reigns in the main event has certainly angered a lot of the Internet Wrestling Community, mainly because their golden boy Daniel Bryan was rejected from getting into back to back main events, like they thought he should have. This led to the fans of Philadelphia to crucify Reigns at the Rumble and this is even after being endorsed by his cousin, the ultra popular Rock. They still booed him. WWE wouldn't back down and though they gave the IWC a glimmer of hope when Reigns fought Bryan at Fast Lane, it was quickly dashed when Reigns actually defeated Bryan to further solidify his status as the #1 contender. I've said all this to come to this point; they are going to crucify Reigns again but on a much larger scale. Wrestlemania is filled with hyper critical WWE fans that will boo if things don't go the way they want. This main event could get severely booed. I don't know if they'll even cheer Lesnar since he's on his way out. This is a bad situation for WWE as the fans will definitely try to hijack the main event. It's going to be a beautiful train wreck.

2. Rollins Factor

Rollins cashing in could be a bad thing for Reigns. Imagine, being pushed to the moon and defeating the Conqueror Brock Lesnar. Reigns is on top of the world, only to have his world come crashing down to a surprise cash in. Either way the cash in goes down, it will hurt either guy involved. It would hurt everything WWE has put into Reigns or Rollins, who are both being pushed as the top face and heel of the future respectively. A successful Rollins cash in is inevitable and is definitely coming as June is approaching quickly but leave it until Money in the Bank could you WWE?

3. Waste of Undertaker's Streak/Lesnar beating Reigns

Bottom line ladies and gentlemen. Brock Lesnar ended The Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania last year. The person who finally defeats Brock Lesnar is going to look like a star and a hero. THAT'S the driving force of this match up. What if, like some rumors are saying, Brock Lesnar happens to resign with WWE and defeats Roman Reigns and continues to hold onto the WWE Title and defend it on a part time basis? That means it would be another year that WWE has lessen the spectacle of the Royal Rumble and have caved to what the fans what. When was this when Cena has coming up? If WWE listened to the fans in Wrestlemania past, Cena definitely would not have beat HHH and HBK at 22 and 23. When did this era of fans dictate what a million dollar organization does? Point is this, they could always just use the next rising star to beat Lesnar or just wait until Reigns is 'ready' for the title but how long before that happens? Wrestlemania 32? That would be a year and a half of part time WWE title defenses, diminishing the value of a title that's value is already low in many fans eyes. While WWE would reportedly raise the values of the US and IC Titles, it's not worth it if the main title loses its importance.

Why have Taker lose to Lesnar if they weren't willing to have Lesnar lose to the next star at the next year's Mania? It would make Lesnar's win in vain, which they could've used for the focal point of Wyatt/Taker. Reigns not being ready for the Mania main event is irrelevant at this point because they're out of options with only a week to go to Mania. This was the plan, now WWE has to STICK TO IT. It's WWE's company, not ours. Romans Reigns MUST defeat Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31. Lesnar staying with the company is not important to me because he will leave eventually. They must prepare for the future. Reigns is the step the future and NXT needs. Reigns will be the first NXT alumni to win the WWE Title and that will speak volumes for all the guys to come in the future.

To end this post, WWE has put themselves in this corner. Lesnar signing isn't important. Prepare for the future WWE. Reigns being champion is best as he'll have a slew of new challengers gunning for his crown, including other top prospects Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt. WWE Internet fans may hate it but for a brighter future, Reigns needs to win.

Next up, Cena/Rusev! Stay tuned!
