Dark Souls Journal: Entry #2 - Progress

After yesterday's serving of humble pie courtesy of Dark Souls II, today went a little smoother. I started right where I left off, the bonfire after defeating The Dragonrider. This path led to a different area, No Man's Wharf. This place immediately reminded me of Dark Souls' Blighttown. Blighttown is easily the hardest area in the game. NMW wasn't as hard but I was stuck here for a little while, due to fast enemies, my skills not being developed and surprise ambushes. Little by little, I started getting further and I eventually got to the boss of the area, Flexile Sentry. He wasn't too big of a challenge, just patience. He attacks, misses, you attack ONCE get away and wait. I beat him easily and got my favorite item from the original, the Pyromancy Glove. Of course, now I have to find a Pyromancy teacher. Anyway, this led to another area filled with new monsters, but nothing out of the ordinary.

As I continued playing, I got more souls and kept leveling up. I also put them to my main weapon, a Mace. Yes, a basic Mace but it's killing all of these bosses. In the new area, I found another boss. I'm sorry, three of them. And they don't play fair so I left that area alone. I decided to go back and see if I could beat either The Pursuer or The Old Dragonslayer. I fought the Pursuer and with better armor, weapons, and skill, I defeated him. He put up a hell of a fight though. So, I continue on and the next area is the place I was JUST at.

So, I got myself ready to finally have a showdown with the Old Dragonslayer. He was fast and moved JUST like Ornstein. With a little skill and luck, the Dragonslayer who has to be Ornstein fell. My reward? A bonfire and a deadend. Nice Dark Souls. Real classy. With that, I stopped for the day.

I plan to go through the area with the three bosses. I got stronger so I'm sure I can beat them now. 10 hours in but I STILL feel like the game isn't done surprising me. Dark Souls II is just an amazing experience.
